Written and directed by Na Hong-jin Hope is already considered to be a staggering piece of work. With an ensemble including Michael Fassbender, his wife Alicia Vikrander, and Cameron Britton from Netflix’s Mindhunter, audiences should prepare themselves for an assault on the senses. With Hope hitting UK cinemas on July 15th and promising pure monster-mash mayhem, this final trailer drops with all the impact of an atom blast. Still teasing and tempting without giving away the goodies, this does more than whet the appetite.

From running battles with indiscriminate entities to stark depictions of the aftermath, everything points to Hope delivering on the promise of a Godzilla sized occurrence. Tensions are maintained throughout, jump cuts and garbled dialogue only up the ante, while solid visual effects give just enough, but not too much. Anticipation is everything and this final bite of the cherry delivers nothing short of a masterclass in manipulation, pulling audiences into frame before unleashing hell.
Where the Hollywood ensemble feature in this Asian cinema cult classic has yet to be determined, but guaranteed they will bring the goods when that time comes. Right now Fassbender is running rampant in The Agency Season 2, making up for an opening run that focused more on character than sheer entertainment, while Britton was last seen in the excellent Spider-Noir for Prime Video. A fact that should speak to the quality of Hope for audiences who might be on the fence about seeing it in cinemas.
