New Yorkers finding love is a cinematic adage older than time, but something One Night Only grabs with both hands before running off into the sunset. Monica Barbaro and Callum Turner play down on their luck singletons in the sprawling metropolis who have almost lost hope finding love. From this latest trailer it could be suggested that the chemistry between these star-crossed lovers is off the chart as they ‘accidentally’ run into each other, over and over again.

One Night Only might not reinvent the wheel when it comes to meet cutes and romcoms in general, but this is all about their charisma which is clearly in full effect. Callum Turner might be one of the candidates up for James Bond right now, while Barbaro’s star is in the ascension following A Complete Unknown, but audiences after something in safe hands could do worse than tracking this down come release date.
One Night Only is easy listening for incurable romantics who like to believe true love can still happen. Director Will Gluck best known for Easy A makes sure to surround our couple with a solid ensemble cast including Maya Hawke and John Hughes alumni Molly Ringwald. Not only upping the ante in terms of dramatic potential, but giving the lightweight premise a touch more substance. Opening up a wealth of possibilities and suggesting there will more than meets the eye when it comes to this particular romcom.
