For anyone wondering whether a Michael Jackson biopic from the team behind Bohemian Rhapsody was a good idea, this should be enough to silence those last remaining naysayers. Saturated in heavy hitters from MJ’s back catalogue, Michael feels capable of appeasing the fan faithful, and setting Jaafar Jackson up for an Oscar nomination, even if he has a home team advantage as the son of Jermaine Jackson.
In the slipstream of Baz Luhrmann’s concert footage homage, and James Mangold’s Complete Unknown still in the collective consciousness, Michael looks set to exploit this latest cinematic trend. Not only giving Michael Jackson the silver screen treatment he deserves, but reminding audiences what a true musical icon really looks like.
