Who would have thought Ariana Grande and Robert de Niro would ever appear together on screen. As much as the proposition might sound unlikely, this is the odd couple pairing that comes together in the latest Focker-In-Law trailer to quiet the naysayers. Scenery chewing with subtlety, this singing sensation come Wicked alumni lands with solid comedy timing, an instant connection to De Niro’s Jack Byrnes, before becoming Ben Stiller’s nemesis.

As ex FBI, Olivia Jones knows all the interrogation tricks and also how to avoid them. Stiller remains the butt of this franchise and leans into slapstick and embraces his inner buffoon without breaking sweat. What Grande does in this extended trailer is reinvigorate a film series that was threatening to recycle old material. De Niro is back on solid form and could probably play this character in his sleep at this point.
What that boils down to in the run up to release is anther instalment which proves there is still some life left in these Fockers. With long time collaborator Owen Wilson on hand to bring his own unique aura alongside veteran Blythe Danner, and BookSmart‘s Bernie Feldstein, Focker-In-Law looks to be firing on all cylinders in preparation for this November.
