Retribution is on the cards this June when Javier Bardem is unleashed in Cape Fear. A retelling of the classic psychological thriller from AppleTVwith Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese pulling the strings. A revenge tale that sees Bardem pick up the mantle last carried by Robert De Niro in 1991, and fashion something sinister from the ashes. Up against this force of nature is Patrick Wilson and Amy Adams preparing to incur the wrath of a criminal hell bent on getting revenge.
This first teaser trailer goes heavy on the atmospherics, cranks up the unsettling soundtrack, and hints at a monumental performance from Javier Bardem as Max Cady. Bloody footprints up a hall way at night, systematic psychological bullying of family members, and a mantra repeated throughout. Torturous cries, moments of sustained threat, and a dirty secret that suggests Cady has every reason to seek his own style of rough justice.
The 1991 version was rife with implied intimacy and crossed into taboo territory as censorship allowed more leniency in terms of interpretation.
