Exclusive Interview – Director Brian A. Metcalf on Adverse starring Mickey Rourke

Adverse is the latest film from Asian-American film maker Brian A Metcalf. This gritty LA crime thriller combines a slow burn narrative, with stripped back locations and an understated performance from Mickey Rourke. Simmering with powder keg intensity and primed to ignite, Adverse is propulsive indie fare well worth the investment.

Writer, director, producer and actor Brian A Metcalf recently took time out to talk to Martin Carr about this latest release – a film borne of life experience and tailored into something genuinely cathartic. Watch the interview below…

Struggling to make ends meet, rideshare driver Ethan (Thomas Nicholas) learns his sister Mia is deep in debt to a sleazy drug dealer. When Mia goes missing, Ethan discovers that crime boss Kaden (Mickey Rourke) is behind the act, and to get close to him Ethan takes a job as Kaden’s driver. One by one Ethan hunts down members of Kaden’s crew to wreak bloody vengeance as he prepares to confront Kaden himself.

Adverse stars Thomas Nicholas (Red Band Society), Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings), Lou Diamond Phillips (Prodigal Son), and Penelope Ann Miller (The Artist).
